The Aurora History Museum opened its doors in 1979 in a historic building with two very small galleries and an office. In 1990 the Museum moved to its present location, re-opened in 1991 and became a part of the City of Aurora, Cultural Services Division. In this new location, the Museum now has two large exhibit galleries, a hands-on room, and a community gallery and programming room. The Museum offers classes, lectures, bus trips, teas, concerts, and workshops to people of all ages. School and group tours are available of both the permanent Aurora history gallery and the changing galleries. Researcher are invited to use the extensive reference library, photographic collection, and archives to learn more about Aurora and Colorado history. The Museum collects and exhibits artifacts and documents pertaining to Aurora's and Colorado's history. Admission to Museum exhibits is always free!
