Nominated for: BEST Mexican
In 1986 the town of Fort Collins was starved. They needed some good Mexican food and man old they deserve a decent margarita. Armed with the knowledge of the Yucatan; Andre and Stephen Mountion, along with childhood friend Pat Mcgaughran, formed a partnership. And in the summer of 1986 with empty pockets, a handful of black beans, and a margarita held high-opened the doors to the Rio Grande on College Ave in Fort Collins. The team was right: the thirst for a good margarita and fresh, healthy Mexican food was overwhelming. The Rio legend has begun. Over the next 20 years the Rio expanded throughout Colorado and just recently crossed borders back to the teams, hometown of Austin, Texas.
