South Broadway across Englewood is one of those older parts of town that's slowly evolving and modernizing. And, as we've noted before, one of the first signs of rebirth is usually restaurants. About a year ago, Breakfast on Broadway opened in the 2900 block of South Broadway, serving a quality breakfast and l unch in a bright and cheery environment. Now, seven blocks north, just south of Evans, the same people have launched the South Broadway Grill in the old Mr. Steak building. Anybody can be at the right place and time and luck into a successful restaurant, but to do it a second time indicates that a lot more than luck is involved. Of course, it's way too early to proclaim the South Broadway Grill a success, but if I were a betting man, I'd be putting my money here. It's been awhile since Mr. Steak cranked food out of the kitchen here, and my memory is a bit dim on the details of that restaurant, but I can guarantee it never looked as good as it looks today, with an attractive bar as the eye-catching centerpiece, soft lighting, cozy booth and table seating and warm earth tones on the walls. It's designed to appeal to the average person looking for a great meal in a room that's upscale without being intimidating.
