I can already see why Sushi Den stands 1st for Sushi category. This place is very nice, although I don't really have an interest in the decor. My main interest is the taste! Oh my....where do I start, they're simply delicious for three reasons. I get the experience of seeing them make my food, I get to see the fresh fish sliced in front of me, and finally I get to eat all the sushi i want. Pricey, but to die for. Their Avocado rolls, and sashimi tastes so fresh. You see all of their chefs, and they have this intense serious look on their face when making these rolls. It's like art to them. To a painter, you give them their paintbrush, acrylic paint, etc, To a sushi "master" give them their seaweed, sticky rice, and fillings, Voila! Masterpiece... This place gets busy, so if you want a sushi bar seat, wait for it, its worth it. If you don't want the sushi bar seat then you would still have to wait for it, sorry!
The cherry cricket right? At first I was scared, anythign with an insect in its name threw me off. But I took my chances and omg! The burgers? shouldnt even be called burgers....They should have this whole other name thats copyrighted only for The Cherry Cricket. It fills you up, its fresh, its tasty, its mouthwatering. While writing this I see the image of the burger just floating before me, and I got the cravings for some American....So lets leave and satisfy that craving of mine. I;ve been typing about restaurants all day, now I'm hungry. Typing works off a few pounds for me you know? chunky fingers....flabby stomach... Im joking Im joking, but typed all day, that has to burn off some calories right? Well Im going to go put on a few more calories at the Cherry Cricket...You, me, and the burger...now!
Not to my surprise, being down on the Federal area, I found New Saigon centered between an old scary house and an autoparts store. Random? That's Federal for you. When I walked in I knew this was the place to WALK in. They have so many awards that I couldn't even rush past them.Even some that date back from....forever ago. This had me excited, but I didn't want to get my hopes up for my taste buds. I had to see what was so great first. I went in with a couple of my friends and we wanted something popular. I ordered the platter...Saigon deck beek...? I'm just kidding, its Saigon Dac Biet. Come on now, I know my food! Anyways, this is my place to be. Like I said on my previous reviews for P17 , that Federal is full of culture, and If it wasn't for my passion for culture, I would have never been able to discover a place like this... Don't forget their boba? Boba? What the hell is boba? Either I was the only one who didn't know in this world, or it became popular during the time when I first experienced New Saigon. Boba is tapioca pearls that are chewy like gummy bears...well less chewy...But its served with smoothies like the mango, green bean coconut, chea, chyeah?,che? its Che im kidding again. Anyways, all delicious...
However, I do have a heads up for everyone. Service is....is....is.....isn't too bad, nor too great. It's really a little less than average, but WHO CARES!? I'm there for the food, so let me order my drinks, my food, and serve it ASAP.
